On one side the Cantabrian Sea, colliding furiously against the river Urumea, on the other hand, the green hills, and right in the middle, one of the most beautiful cities of Spain: San Sebastián, or Donostia as it is known in the Basque Country.
Walking its streets is a pleasure not only for the view but also for the palate. Undoubtedly in this region of Spain they know what is good eating. We were lucky to share a lunch with Jose Luis Rebordinos and Lucía Olaciregui, the director and the deputy director of the San Sebastian International Film Festival, which has brought together such figures as Alfred Hitchcock, Woody Allen, Steven Spielberg, Luis Buñuel, Al Pacino, Robert de Niro, among other great artists of the world cinema in its 64 years of existence.
Connoisseurs of the city, they took us to a very popular bar in San Sebastián: the bar “Néstor”, where they reserved the table number 19, the only table of the place.
This bar that has been operating since the year 1980 serves the “best tomato salad in the Basque Country”, according to our hosts, and as we could actually check it out ourselves; And a steak chop that was a delicacy.
We were not lucky enough to try Nestor’s famous “tortilla” since he only makes two a day, at 1 PM and 8 PM, and you have to reserve a portion an hour before.
